A steel transmission tower supports bare high-voltage conductors and ground wires, holding them clear of the ground, roads and buildings. We build it as a square truss, cut into short sections so the knocked-down pieces pack into standard containers and ride a long way to site. The members bolt together with high-strength fittings, so crews assemble on the ground and never weld up in the air. After every piece is cut, drilled and punched, we hot-dip galvanize it to lock in decades of outdoor service. We then issue the load calculations and the assembly drawings with each order, which is what a line engineer actually needs on a real corridor.
